Indoor and outdoor kitties think the same?

Posted by carol

If anyone know me and my husband, they know we love animals.

Especially cats. We have a few indoor ones, all different personalities, which can make for a household of fun!

So when this little outdoor guy decided to adopt us, we had no choice but to accept the job!

randiWe were out on our (sorry, Randy’s) deck the other night, and I noticed he had no one to play with. (He usually converses through the window at our indoor babies, but when they get bored, off they go!)

So I got him a toy mouse to play with. He wasn’t sure of it at first (it was red with a white tail), but soon started batting it around. Having a good time!

Then I asked my husband, I wonder if he’ll put the mouse in the food dish like our indoor kitties do. I know cats have an instinct to keep their food in one safe spot. (at least I think this is why our kitties put the toys in their food dishes)

Anyway, I no sooner spoke the words and “plop” right in the food dish the mouse went! (What do you think? Did he hear what I said and just want to entertain me?)

It is very neat to see the similarity even though they are in “different” worlds!

  1. Barb Said,

Randy is very attractive! That’s funny – Andy does that too. His favourite toys always end up in the food dish. He is the only one who does it though. You can follow a trail of toys to find Gretchen – she leaves them all over the place. Gus and Cfer don’t really play with toys much.

Andy’s favourite toy is a piece of paper crumpled into a ball. He brings it to me to throw down the hall for him. I just picked it out of the food dish, when I stopped to fill the bowls. Just as often, unfortunately, the ball will end up in the water bowl.

I’m enjoying poking around in this site. Thanks Carol.

    Barb
